Whispering Souls: Filmmaking and School Programme

You express love in one way, and I receive love in another way. When our love langauges are not aligned, relationships often become more distant.
The Whispering Souls: Filmmaking and School Programme took this as its starting point. Guided by professional documentary director Wong Siu-pong and UK-registered art therapist Leung Ching Wan, Gigi, 6 teenagers and young adults each produced their own documentary short. These films cover themes like friends growing apart, family conflicts, getting to know their family again, and connecting with people through art.
We screened these films and held related exhibitions at 15 secondary schools. Through art and interactions, student learnt more about the Five Love Langauges and emotional first-aid skills.
The documentary shorts are also included in the Whispering Souls—Love Language Teaching Kit designed by therapist Gigi Leung. The teaching kit aims to aid teachers, social workers, counsellors, and those engaged in youth services. By screening the films and engaging in the variety of activities included, we can explore the topic of "love" with students, allowing them to learn more about themselves. Students can also learn how to establish boundaries and understand the different ways people express their emotions through interactive games.
To assist helping professionals utilise the teaching kit, we held in-person training workshops and online sharing sessions led by therapist Gigi Leung. Gigi instructed participants on how to use the teaching kit to guide adolescents to share their feelings, engage in discussions, and reflect on the emotional needs of themselves and others.
